Overview & Procedure
What the treatment is and how it's performed
What it is
Eximia is a machine for lymphatic drainage. The lymphatic system carries excess fluid away from the tissues. When it works slowly, the body can feel heavy and swollen. The machine gives a rhythmic, gentle stimulation along the lymphatic pathways, so the fluid is carried away more easily.
The treatment is often done as a course and can be combined with other body treatments, for example cavitation.
Treatment protocol
A course is usually about eight treatments, once or twice a week.
After the course, many people keep up the effect with one treatment a month.
The therapist makes a plan based on your needs.
Preparation
Drink plenty of water the day before and on the day.
Eat a light meal.
Wear comfortable clothes.
Tell the therapist about health problems, operations and medicines you use.
Procedure
You lie comfortably while the machine treats the relevant areas in a steady rhythm.
Duration
45-60 minutes.
Experience & Recovery
Pain level, downtime and healing
Pain level
The treatment does not hurt. Most people find it gentle and relaxing.
Downtime
None. Light activity, such as a walk, helps the fluid move on.
Side effects
It is common to need to urinate more often in the following hours.
Some people feel a little thirsty or tired.
A mild headache can occur. It usually passes with water and rest.
Aftercare
Drink plenty of water after the treatment.
Avoid alcohol for the first 24-48 hours.
Stay lightly active, for example with a walk.
Expectations & Safety
Who it's for and safety information
Who this is suitable for
Fluid retention and heavy, swollen legs.
As an addition to other body treatments.
After an operation, when your doctor has approved it.
Who this is not suitable for
The treatment is not suitable if you have an acute infection or inflammation, severe heart failure, a blood clot, kidney failure or cancer without medical clearance.
Important information
Lymphatic drainage moves fluid, not fat. If your weight drops right after a treatment, it is because of fluid.
How much the treatment helps depends on the cause of the fluid retention and your lifestyle.
Warning signs
Contact a doctor at once if one leg becomes swollen, warm and painful, or if you become short of breath. This can be a sign of a blood clot and must be checked quickly.
Individual variations
Many people feel lighter after the first treatment. The effect builds up during the course and varies from person to person.
Maintenance
The effect lasts longest when you combine the treatments with enough fluids, exercise and a varied diet. Maintenance treatments can help keep up the effect.
