Overview & Procedure

What the treatment is and how it's performed

What it is

In a paraffin treatment, the hands or feet are dipped in warm paraffin wax, or the wax is applied to the back. The wax sets into a warm layer that holds in warmth and moisture. The skin becomes soft, and the warmth can make stiff joints and muscles more mobile for a while.

  1. The skin is cleansed, and a nourishing cream can be applied.
  2. The practitioner checks the temperature of the wax.
  3. The hands or feet are dipped in the wax several times, or the wax is applied to the back.
  4. The area is wrapped for 15–20 minutes, before the wax is removed.

The treatment takes 45–60 minutes.

Experience & Recovery

Pain level, downtime and healing

The treatment does not hurt. The wax feels warm and pleasant.

  • Common: slight redness from the heat.
  • Rare: small burns if the wax is too hot.

  • Apply moisturiser to the skin every day, so it stays soft.

No downtime.
